The RNLI works tirelessly to help prevent emergencies on the water by spreading the word about safety in a professional, positive and age-appropriate way. For instance:

• We can arrange an educational visit to an Isle of Wight RNLI Lifeboat Station with a qualified educator on hand to provide safety messaging and tasks to continue back in the classroom
• Visits by schools or groups to the Inshore Lifeboat Centre in East Cowes can be arranged – watch the RNLI’s inshore boats being built!
• We can arrange visits to schools on the Island or online learning sessions
• There are lots of educational materials available from us and from the RNLI website including free lesson plans and topics

Schools Mini-lifeboat Competition 

To mark the Bicentenary of the RNLI, the Isle of Wight RNLI Lifeboat Board will invite entries from Island Schools to build a “Mini-Lifeboat” with curriculum-appropriate tasks for Key Stage 1, 2 or 3 classes. Entries may be submitted up to 31st March 2024.

Entry details should be submitted by 31st March 2024 and models should be ready for display by mid July 2024. A “float-off” to decide the winners will be held in summer 2024. Winning models will go on public display.
